I am always impressed by the massive amount of research that goes into the Gabriel Allon series. It seems I am always made aware of real life events I was unaware of and other books I need to add to my reading list. I have read every Silva novel written and I always eagerly anticipate the next release.

It seems funny that this author has made several overt references to the political right and blow hard world leaders that use Twitter (like trump) as anti-Semitic and anti-immigrant. A lot similarities to how our left media and politicians reference republicans as far right. I know in my republican heart, I have no hate to legal immigrants and the Jewish people. The left / liberals use them as causes for political gain and power only. I read all the Allon series. If this author continues with incendiary writing, this will be my last. Keep politics out of your books, I want an escape left wing agenda.

Unfortunate
After reading some of the virtue signaling in just the sample, I suspected the first 40 pages were an accurate reflection of the entire book. While I’m fine with different opinions, I’m not willing to pay someone who trades away a good story for moral lectures and condescension. Rather than purchase the book, a friend lent me his. I stopped after 100 pages. Not worth it and it was free. I’m glad I never wasted my money and now I know to cross Silva off my list. If I could have reviewed with zero stars, I would have.

Silva tackles the right
This is the weakest of Daniel’s books. Too much time is spent virtue signaling, which seems to be the purpose of the book. Now that Trump is out of office, Dan can get back to what made him popular.

Gabriel is too predictable. Found a lot of chapters boring. Did not like how author describes Munich. It is a beautiful city.

If I had wanted to read about the author’s religious philosophy, I would have picked a Dan Brown book. I don’t. There is relatively little to this book beyond the theological screed. I should have passed on it, and you should, too.

Silva is a Biden democrat stooge. Perhaps the “squad” can spit on Israel´s legacy in the next treacherous installment. What a shame Silva has perverted a perfectly wonderful series by injecting phony narrative party line claptrap into the continuing saga of the very existence of a beloved and blessedly protected Jewish state. Our Christian brethren in the largely anti-Semitic intelligence community have won in allowing this implausible anti-Trump narrative to dominate and skew the continuing story of triumphant survival that the “Office” must manage at all cost in order to assure that true allies of both the IC and the State of Israel such as the inimitable 45th US President Donald J. Trump, and implacable foes such as the vain high-heeled “Tsar”, both fear their prowess just enough to prompt such dipoles to wreak havoc elsewhere, and allow this blessed slice of biblical heaven to survive unscathed for yet another millennium.

Worst Daniel Silva book ever!
I have been a long time Daniel Silva/Gabriel Allon fan. I actually reread all the books in anticipation of The Order and was especially disappointed at this poorly researched and sourced novel with such clear anti-Catholic bias. While Mr. Silva is not new to controversial themes, his books usually have a fair representation of various opinions and points of view. That is until now. The so-called experts he refers to in his acknowledgments are well known critics who support the very narrow perspective on biblical theology. A particularly glaring deficit in The Order is that the apostle John is never mentioned in the book-an eye witness to the life and teaching of Jesus. Those who are equally disgusted with the infantile arguments presented in this novel may wish to look at true experts in this field none of whom were referenced: NT Wright, Fulton Sheen and Bishop Robert Barron. Sadly, with this poorly sourced and blatantly anti-catholic work, Mr. Silva has lost a fan forever.

This Must Have Been Co-Written By Dan Brown
I’ve been a fan of Silva since the first Allon novel and literally wait with anticipation every year for the new adventure. Without giving anything away for those who don’t know anything about this book, it was more Dan Brown than Daniel Silva. I get it - Gabriel Allon is getting older and approaching retirement, but this was on par with The Unlikely Spy - a slower paced, slower read. It’s a Silva novel about Gabriel Allon so please just take my money, but I can’t say it’s Daniel Silva’s best work. Maybe he’ll redeem himself next summer.

Somewhat offensive
I enjoyed the book generally and the story was good. As a Bible believing Christian who accepts the Bible as inerrant, I was bothered by the parts questioning the New Testament’s accuracy. If the whole point of the book is to absolve the Jews of crucifying Jesus and saying it was Rome, that the New Testament is to blame for all Jewish executions, then go ahead and throw it out. Should we question the entire Old Testament also? How about all the prophesies predicting the Savior’s death by His own people for the sins of the world. I guess I like the old Gabriel better.

I have read every book in this series and enjoyed each of them...this was by far the most disappointing. Mr. Silva was more focused force feeding the reader an alternate version of christianity than the development of the plot which seemed secondary.

Very disappointing
I have read with enthusiasm every of the Gabriel Allon series by Silva. I found myself thinking that this is not the same Gabriel Allon in any of them. It is anti-Catholice (I am not Catholic) and a disservice to the church in so many respects. Even to Christianity iteself.The book is disjointed, full of speculation and conjecture about the life and the last days of Jesus and Pontius Pilate. aIt demonstrates a highly prejucied viewpoint in favor of illegal immigration and any policy that supports proctecing borders. It is obvious in its dislike for President Trump’s administartion without naming him, or that of any other conservative leaders in Europe or elswhere. I could barely get though it and the epilogue was worse than the book.

Disappointing
Have read and enjoyed all previous Allon books. This was disappointingly subpar, so much so that I struggled to finish it. Villains are undeveloped, they appear suddenly just in time to die. Not sure what happened. As a reader I would be massively interested in younger Allon stories, prequels possibly, as old Allon is losing his excitement. I’m hoping this is a one off for Silva. Everyone has bad days I guess.

The Gabriel Allon series has always been a favorite of mine. I have recommended this series to others on numerous occasions. The Order was a terrible disappointment, literally from beginning to end. I am hoping that this was just a one off for Silva.

Three steps back
Read them all and found this one a bit of a slog, early on, almost quit when pandemic talk was gratuitously dropped in and in and derogatory comments were made about a thinly veiled U. S. President. I if I want to read Silva’s political views, I suggest he write non-fiction and quit diluting a really great series with that crap.

Interesting, not typical Gabriel Allon book
This was an interesting and seemingly well researched book. It read very much like a nonfiction book. It was definitely NOT similar to the past Gabriel Allon books. In some ways it seems like a farewell, might we see a new character coming from Mr Silva? While I enjoyed parts of it and learned some things, the pacing was slow and I found myself missing what got me hooked on Allon originally: the art restoration and espionage aspects of the novels. Might be time to head back and read some of those again. It wasn’t particularly entertaining, a bit repetitive from some of his other books dealing with the Catholic Church and similar in some ways to Dan Brown novels. So, missed Allon of old.

According to Mr. Silva, you are responsible for the death of all Jewish people from the time of Christ, including WWII, the rise of Hitler and the Holocaust. Happy Days was one of the greatest TV shows of its era. It was funny, witty, and featured some fantastic characters. Chief among these the Fonz, the coolest dude in television history. The show enjoyed years of success, one after the other. It was an unprecedented run. And then they went waterskiing, a shark chased the Fonz, and Fonz jumped the shark. That ridiculous scene was enough to prove to the audience that the show was over despite its incredible success. And now in The Order, Mr. Silva jumps the shark. After nearly two decades of hits, Gabriel Allon has just jumped the shark.

I read The Order, growing more and more puzzled with each page, but soldiered on to try to understand what had motivated Mr. Silva to pen this strange offering. By the time that I finished his “Author’s Note,” I was just numb. Can Mr. Silva really believe that all of today’s world-wide anti-Semitic ravings and violence emanates from Christian/Catholic scriptural interpretation of the death of Jesus? Will his next book perhaps explain to us how the Islamic jihadist movement derives from the Gospel of Matthew? No informed moral person can excuse the horrific conduct of the Vatican in WWII, but today’s anti-Semitic fervor doesn’t arise from that source. It also is astonishing that, when asserting the rise of anti-Semitism in the US, Silva lays blame on populism and white nationalism, citing as “proof” the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville (100+/- protestors) and the deranged lone gunman assassin at the Tree of Life Synagogue. Mr. Silva might want to peek out from under the covers to consider the large number of progressive academic groups and programs that have adopted boycotts of Israel and/or announced pro-Palestinian support, to research the increasing threats and attacks on Jewish students involved in Jewish campus organizations, or even to read Bari Weiss’s letter of resignation from the NYTimes, in which she recounts being harassed by her woke colleagues for “writing about the Jews again.” I’ve previously enjoyed Mr. Silva’s work, but now, goodbye.

It is obvious in its dislike for President Trump’s administartion without naming him, or that of any other conservative leaders in Europe or elswhere. I could barely get though it and the epilogue was worse than the book.

Disappointing
Have read and enjoyed all previous Allon books. This was disappointingly subpar, so much so that I struggled to finish it. Villains are undeveloped, they appear suddenly just in time to die. Not sure what happened. As a reader I would be massively interested in younger Allon stories, prequels possibly, as old Allon is losing his excitement. I’m hoping this is a one off for Silva. Everyone has bad days I guess.

The Gabriel Allon series has always been a favorite of mine. I have recommended this series to others on numerous occasions. The Order was a terrible disappointment, literally from beginning to end. I am hoping that this was just a one off for Silva.

Read them all and found this one a bit of a slog, early on, almost quit when pandemic talk was gratuitously dropped in and in and derogatory comments were made about a thinly veiled U. S. President. I if I want to read Silva’s political views, I suggest he write non-fiction and quit diluting a really great series with that crap.

Interesting, not typical Gabriel Allon book
This was an interesting and seemingly well researched book. It read very much like a nonfiction book. It was definitely NOT similar to the past Gabriel Allon books. In some ways it seems like a farewell, might we see a new character coming from Mr Silva? While I enjoyed parts of it and learned some things, the pacing was slow and I found myself missing what got me hooked on Allon originally: the art restoration and espionage aspects of the novels. Might be time to head back and read some of those again. It wasn’t particularly entertaining, a bit repetitive from some of his other books dealing with the Catholic Church and similar in some ways to Dan Brown novels. So, missed Allon of old.

The show enjoyed years of success, one after the other. It was an unprecedented run. And then they went waterskiing, a shark chased the Fonz, and Fonz jumped the shark. That ridiculous scene was enough to prove to the audience that the show was over despite its incredible success. And now in The Order, Mr. Silva jumps the shark. After nearly two decades of hits, Gabriel Allon has just jumped the shark.

I read The Order, growing more and more puzzled with each page, but soldiered on to try to understand what had motivated Mr. Silva to pen this strange offering. By the time that I finished his “Author’s Note,” I was just numb. Can Mr. Silva really believe that all of today’s world-wide anti-Semitic ravings and violence emanates from Christian/Catholic scriptural interpretation of the death of Jesus? Will his next book perhaps explain to us how the Islamic jihadist movement derives from the Gospel of Matthew? No informed moral person can excuse the horrific conduct of the Vatican in WWII, but today’s anti-Semitic fervor doesn’t arise from that source. It also is astonishing that, when asserting the rise of anti-Semitism in the US, Silva lays blame on populism and white nationalism, citing as “proof” the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville (100+/- protestors) and the deranged lone gunman assassin at the Tree of Life Synagogue. I am always impressed by the massive amount of research that goes into the Gabriel Allon series. It seems I am always made aware of real life events I was unaware of and other books I need to add to my reading list. I have read every Silva novel written and I always eagerly anticipate the next release.

It seems funny that this author has made several overt references to the political right and blow hard world leaders that use Twitter (like trump) as anti-Semitic and anti-immigrant. A lot similarities to how our left media and politicians reference republicans as far right. I know in my republican heart, I have no hate to legal immigrants and the Jewish people. The left / liberals use them as causes for political gain and power only. I read all the Allon series. If this author continues with incendiary writing, this will be my last. Keep politics out of your books, I want an escape left wing agenda.

Unfortunate
After reading some of the virtue signaling in just the sample, I suspected the first 40 pages were an accurate reflection of the entire book. While I’m fine with different opinions, I’m not willing to pay someone who trades away a good story for moral lectures and condescension. Rather than purchase the book, a friend lent me his. I stopped after 100 pages. Not worth it and it was free. I’m glad I never wasted my money and now I know to cross Silva off my list. If I could have reviewed with zero stars, I would have.

This is the weakest of Daniel’s books. Too much time is spent virtue signaling, which seems to be the purpose of the book. Now that Trump is out of office, Dan can get back to what made him popular.

Worst Daniel Silva book ever!
I have been a long time Daniel Silva/Gabriel Allon fan. I actually reread all the books in anticipation of The Order and was especially disappointed at this poorly researched and sourced novel with such clear anti-Catholic bias. While Mr. Silva is not new to controversial themes, his books usually have a fair representation of various opinions and points of view. That is until now. The so-called experts he refers to in his acknowledgments are well known critics who support the very narrow perspective on biblical theology. A particularly glaring deficit in The Order is that the apostle John is never mentioned in the book-an eye witness to the life and teaching of Jesus. Those who are equally disgusted with the infantile arguments presented in this novel may wish to look at true experts in this field none of whom were referenced: NT Wright, Fulton Sheen and Bishop Robert Barron. Sadly, with this poorly sourced and blatantly anti-catholic work, Mr. Silva has lost a fan forever.

I’ve been a fan of Silva since the first Allon novel and literally wait with anticipation every year for the new adventure. Without giving anything away for those who don’t know anything about this book, it was more Dan Brown than Daniel Silva. I get it - Gabriel Allon is getting older and approaching retirement, but this was on par with The Unlikely Spy - a slower paced, slower read. It’s a Silva novel about Gabriel Allon so please just take my money, but I can’t say it’s Daniel Silva’s best work. Maybe he’ll redeem himself next summer.

I enjoyed the book generally and the story was good. As a Bible believing Christian who accepts the Bible as inerrant, I was bothered by the parts questioning the New Testament’s accuracy. If the whole point of the book is to absolve the Jews of crucifying Jesus and saying it was Rome, that the New Testament is to blame for all Jewish executions, then go ahead and throw it out. Should we question the entire Old Testament also? How about all the prophesies predicting the Savior’s death by His own people for the sins of the world. I guess I like the old Gabriel better.

I have read every book in this series and enjoyed each of them...this was by far the most disappointing. Mr. Silva was more focused force feeding the reader an alternate version of christianity than the development of the plot which seemed secondary.

I am always impressed by the massive amount of research that goes into the Gabriel Allon series. It seems I am always made aware of real life events I was unaware of and other books I need to add to my reading list. I have read every Silva novel written and I always eagerly anticipate the next release.

It seems funny that this author has made several overt references to the political right and blow hard world leaders that use Twitter (like trump) as anti-Semitic and anti-immigrant. A lot similarities to how our left media and politicians reference republicans as far right. I know in my republican heart, I have no hate to legal immigrants and the Jewish people. The left / liberals use them as causes for political gain and power only. I read all the Allon series. If this author continues with incendiary writing, this will be my last. Keep politics out of your books, I want an escape left wing agenda.

Unfortunate
After reading some of the virtue signaling in just the sample, I suspected the first 40 pages were an accurate reflection of the entire book. While I’m fine with different opinions, I’m not willing to pay someone who trades away a good story for moral lectures and condescension. Rather than purchase the book, a friend lent me his. I stopped after 100 pages. Not worth it and it was free. I’m glad I never wasted my money and now I know to cross Silva off my list. If I could have reviewed with zero stars, I would have.

This is the weakest of Daniel’s books. Too much time is spent virtue signaling, which seems to be the purpose of the book. Now that Trump is out of office, Dan can get back to what made him popular.

If I had wanted to read about the author’s religious philosophy, I would have picked a Dan Brown book. I don’t. There is relatively little to this book beyond the theological screed. I should have passed on it, and you should, too.

Worst Daniel Silva book ever!
I have been a long time Daniel Silva/Gabriel Allon fan. I actually reread all the books in anticipation of The Order and was especially disappointed at this poorly researched and sourced novel with such clear anti-Catholic bias. While Mr. Silva is not new to controversial themes, his books usually have a fair representation of various opinions and points of view. That is until now. The so-called experts he refers to in his acknowledgments are well known critics who support the very narrow perspective on biblical theology. A particularly glaring deficit in The Order is that the apostle John is never mentioned in the book-an eye witness to the life and teaching of Jesus. Those who are equally disgusted with the infantile arguments presented in this novel may wish to look at true experts in this field none of whom were referenced: NT Wright, Fulton Sheen and Bishop Robert Barron. Sadly, with this poorly sourced and blatantly anti-catholic work, Mr. Silva has lost a fan forever.

This Must Have Been Co-Written By Dan Brown
I’ve been a fan of Silva since the first Allon novel and literally wait with anticipation every year for the new adventure. Without giving anything away for those who don’t know anything about this book, it was more Dan Brown than Daniel Silva. I get it - Gabriel Allon is getting older and approaching retirement, but this was on par with The Unlikely Spy - a slower paced, slower read. It’s a Silva novel about Gabriel Allon so please just take my money, but I can’t say it’s Daniel Silva’s best work. Maybe he’ll redeem himself next summer.

Somewhat offensive
I enjoyed the book generally and the story was good. As a Bible believing Christian who accepts the Bible as inerrant, I was bothered by the parts questioning the New Testament’s accuracy. If the whole point of the book is to absolve the Jews of crucifying Jesus and saying it was Rome, that the New Testament is to blame for all Jewish executions, then go ahead and throw it out. Should we question the entire Old Testament also? How about all the prophesies predicting the Savior’s death by His own people for the sins of the world. I guess I like the old Gabriel better.

Ignore the cranky Trump supporters reviews. A worthy addition to the Allon series. Surprised any followers of the failed casino owner/amateur pharmacist read at all. Life moves forwards as November will surely prove.

Plot not the focus
I have read every book in this series and enjoyed each of them...this was by far the most disappointing. Mr. Silva was more focused force feeding the reader an alternate version of christianity than the development of the plot which seemed secondary.

Very disappointing
I have read with enthusiasm every of the Gabriel Allon series by Silva. I found myself thinking that this is not the same Gabriel Allon in any of them. It is anti-Catholice (I am not Catholic) and a disservice to the church in so many respects. Even to Christianity iteself.The book is disjointed, full of speculation and conjecture about the life and the last days of Jesus and Pontius Pilate. aIt demonstrates a highly prejucied viewpoint in favor of illegal immigration and any policy that supports proctecing borders. It is obvious in its dislike for President Trump’s administartion without naming him, or that of any other conservative leaders in Europe or elswhere. I could barely get though it and the epilogue was worse than the book.

Disappointing
Have read and enjoyed all previous Allon books. This was disappointingly subpar, so much so that I struggled to finish it. Villains are undeveloped, they appear suddenly just in time to die. Not sure what happened. As a reader I would be massively interested in younger Allon stories, prequels possibly, as old Allon is losing his excitement. I’m hoping this is a one off for Silva. Everyone has bad days I guess.

The Gabriel Allon series has always been a favorite of mine. I have recommended this series to others on numerous occasions. The Order was a terrible disappointment, literally from beginning to end. I am hoping that this was just a one off for Silva.

Read them all and found this one a bit of a slog, early on, almost quit when pandemic talk was gratuitously dropped in and in and derogatory comments were made about a thinly veiled U. S. President. I if I want to read Silva’s political views, I suggest he write non-fiction and quit diluting a really great series with that crap.

Interesting, not typical Gabriel Allon book
This was an interesting and seemingly well researched book. It read very much like a nonfiction book. It was definitely NOT similar to the past Gabriel Allon books. In some ways it seems like a farewell, might we see a new character coming from Mr Silva? While I enjoyed parts of it and learned some things, the pacing was slow and I found myself missing what got me hooked on Allon originally: the art restoration and espionage aspects of the novels. Might be time to head back and read some of those again. It wasn’t particularly entertaining, a bit repetitive from some of his other books dealing with the Catholic Church and similar in some ways to Dan Brown novels. So, missed Allon of old.

The show enjoyed years of success, one after the other. It was an unprecedented run. And then they went waterskiing, a shark chased the Fonz, and Fonz jumped the shark. That ridiculous scene was enough to prove to the audience that the show was over despite its incredible success. And now in The Order, Mr. Silva jumps the shark. After nearly two decades of hits, Gabriel Allon has just jumped the shark.

This book has taught me NOT to preorder a book just because I loved the authors previous work. Honestly I just can’t finish which is extremely rare for me. It’s not the politics, the Bible, etc. it’s just the same old stuff. I love the character but the author needs to give him something new to do.

I read The Order, growing more and more puzzled with each page, but soldiered on to try to understand what had motivated Mr. Silva to pen this strange offering. By the time that I finished his “Author’s Note,” I was just numb. Can Mr. Silva really believe that all of today’s world-wide anti-Semitic ravings and violence emanates from Christian/Catholic scriptural interpretation of the death of Jesus? Will his next book perhaps explain to us how the Islamic jihadist movement derives from the Gospel of Matthew? No informed moral person can excuse the horrific conduct of the Vatican in WWII, but today’s anti-Semitic fervor doesn’t arise from that source. It also is astonishing that, when asserting the rise of anti-Semitism in the US, Silva lays blame on populism and white nationalism, citing as “proof” the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville (100+/- protestors) and the deranged lone gunman assassin at the Tree of Life Synagogue. Mr. Silva might want to peek out from under the covers to consider the large number of progressive academic groups and programs that have adopted boycotts of Israel and/or announced pro-Palestinian support, to research the increasing threats and attacks on Jewish students involved in Jewish campus organizations, or even to read Bari Weiss’s letter of resignation from the NYTimes, in which she recounts being harassed by her woke colleagues for “writing about the Jews again.” I’ve previously enjoyed Mr. Silva’s work, but now, goodbye.
